[Discussion Series] Ripping the Band-Aid Off - Concussion Awareness

Keynote speech delivered by Drs. John Connolly and Michael Noseworthy, November 17, 2017, 7 pm

Brain Smart- Let's Play Safely!, is a project that plans to implement and evaluate a concussion education strategy aimed at coaches, parents and youth throughout Hamilton Minor Sports. It is led by one of ARiEAL associate members, Prof. Carol DeMatteo. As part of this project, the research team is committed to deliver a discussion series aims to create awareness about the impact of concussion, diagnosis, management, safety in sports, treatment options and returning to life after concussion! Part 1 of this discussion series is to create awareness about the impact of concussion on our brains and on our lives.

The keynote speech will be delivered by the ARiEAL Researchers, Drs. John Connolly (Director) and Michael Noseworthy (Full Member). Together with Dr. Luciano Minuzzi, Drs. Connolly and Noseworthy both play a leading role in a ground-breaking research project that was recently featured by the Hamilton Spectator, Collision Course: A 4-part series on concussion and football.

A panel and and open discussion will follow our Keynote speakers. Panel includes - Dr. David Greenberg, Prof. Carol DeMatteo, Tania Harris, and Karley Hamilton.
